yesterday, we learned about OBGYN and soft-tissue trauma. Those were pretty graphic stuff, people. I never knew what the placenta looks like until yesterday...it is pretty disturbing. it looked like a huge bloody grapefruit with white waxy membrane around it. some of the soft tissue pictures were also pretty disturbing, especially the degloving one (skin got peeled off from the hand) and the picture with the exposing intestines... yikes.
today was skills day...
i got to interview a male patient who was suffering from depression and swallowed 35 tylenols... it was a tough scenario. what do you say to someone who wants to kill himself? all i tried to do was to tell him that i was going to help him and get help for him...and assessed his health status continuously. how do you deal with patients like that? i tried to have him tell me why he did it...etc. etc. etc... anyhow...
later, i got to practice splinting and got practiced on. dude... seriously, by the end of this EMT class, i will develop an immune response to being touched. Since we were all practicing and being practiced on, we touched one another's thighs, legs, feet, buttock, and abdomen. i am getting less ticklish now, i think... at least i can try to hold it back when they touch my thighs now. what a great improvement! :-p
jo is still trying to teach me how to move my hips when i do the side-way steps for hula. later, she's going to teach me the forward and backward steps for hula. i need to practice more... hehe. according to her, my omi is pretty good now. :-p. we might ask one of the eric's to bring the hawaiian skirt (i forgot what it is called) for me at the end of the class so i can have my performance ($5.00 ticket price!)... muwahahahaha. we'll see how THAT goes. i doubt that it is going to happen, but it'd be cool if i learn the steps...
i think a bunch of us are going to hang out on july 4th weekend in san francisco. i am looking forward to it although i still don't know if i am going or not. we'll see. i am still debating. i really don't like to put myself in a volunerable position with people even though i know who they are... so...we'll see. it'd be cool if jo, dave, mike, and danny will be there... i love this kid dave...he reminds me sooo much of some of my friends in MI! man...they way they talk! it's actually pretty amazing... there is something about these Michiganders. hehe. i love them.
mm...this is about it. yep. goodnight. :)
