"Dreams"

Hold fast to dreams/ For if dreams die/ Life is a broken-winged bird/ That cannot fly.// Hold fast to dreams/ For when dreams go/ Life is a barren field/ Frozen with snow. Langston Hughes

i haven't feel this way when i take an exam for a long time... doesn't it just feel good when you are able to finish an exam and say to yourself, "well, that was challenging, but i think i did pretty good"? It is better than taking an exam, flying through it, and thinking, "well, this is a little too easy...i thought it would be a bit harder," or taking an exam, laboring through it, and thinking, "geez, i studied for so long, and i thought i was ready for it, but apparently, either the professor just wants to challenge me to the max or wants to flunk me."

getting back to the dorm from orgo, i was thinking about my anthropology class again. how much of our daily life is affected by the media and ads around us? have you ever thought about it? when people say, "sigh, i am getting old," as he/she finds only 3 gray hair on the head, how much of that is contributed by the constant bombardment of "anti-aging" commercials? is it so bad to become older? why do people fear aging? Older people generally have more experience in the world and therefore, are "wiser"...maybe not in every sense, but would still be considered "wiser" comparing to child. most of the time, they are being respecteed by others. don't people like to be respected? i would think so. i suppose that comparing the respect that you receive with the wrinkles that you get when you are older, the anti-wrinkle campaign wins afterall. is forever "beauty" and "youthfulness" that important? do they even show you what the person's intrinsic self is like? i don't think so. surely, there are some people who are beautiful, young, and good, but not all. so, how can you judge someone by looking at their appearance? or even judging yourself when you look in the mirror? it is certainly important to keep oneself tidy and neat when going out, but spending excessive time and energy (and even money) on something that's occuring naturally is really wasting time. (personal opinion. don't mind me)

sometimes i feel like i am getting shallower and shallower... why should i care if i have more gray hair on my head? Ju's head is 1/2 gray already and he's only 21. He never cared...why should i care?

magazine project really shines a light into my small, closed mind... you can totally see the stereotypical male and female ideals in these non-nutritious fashion magazines.
