"Dreams"

Hold fast to dreams/ For if dreams die/ Life is a broken-winged bird/ That cannot fly.// Hold fast to dreams/ For when dreams go/ Life is a barren field/ Frozen with snow. Langston Hughes

hmmm... how often do you hear people complimenting with "you have nice facial features"? errr......... i am not sure what that is supposed to mean... it sounds weird...but ok.

speaking of facial features...i mean...people general have nice facial features if you look at each part separately. not many people have crooked nose, cocked eyes, noticeable different skin tones. i generally rarely see "ugly" people in term of physical/facial features. my definitely of ugly in term of physical/facial features is more like a medical abnormality/asymmetrical. most of the time, people are just normal looking. some are skinny like lamp pole, some are plump... some are more pimply than others. some are hairy, and some have skin as smooth as silk (e.g. my mom)... some are darker, some are lighter. i guess i just have a different way of viewing "beauty"... You can have an average face and have a really warped nose... you can have an average face and have a really straight and fine nose... it doesn't mean too much. nowadays, people get plastic surgery everywhere, and you can change these external facial features to the ones that best suit your personality... plus, there is no perfect symmetry... I remember reading an article about what beauty is on the discover magazine... when people ordered these pictures of people's faces...the most beautiful face has the most symmetry to it. hm... I don't know what I am trying to say... it is just something that doesn't weigh too much in my mind.

and...some people have asked me what kind of guy i like (including my own dad)... i am not sure. here is a list if you really want to hear the unrealistic part of life (in no particular order)

1. tall
2. older
3. normal looking
4. loves what he does for living (except the bad things, such as gambling, stealing, killing... you get the idea)
5. knows what he wants in life and stick to his goals. has a big picture of what he wants to accomplish in life...and something that i would admire from the bottom of my heart and be non-competitive about.
6. religion? no pref. as long as he is not an extreme and does not try to influence my decision in my life
7. appreciates/cares about life and the people/things around him
8. knows me well...or maybe better than i know myself. knows when to leave me alone by myself....
9. good listener and willing to share and be open about the things on his mind
10. someone whom i will be totally relaxed to be with...and be myself (probably the most important thing of all)
11. ethnicity/race? no pref. as long as we click...and try to compromise between what i want and what parents want
12. stable career
13. similar schedule

i suppose the list can go on and on and on...and you will see this picture of the "Prince" come to life... the unrealistic part. I mean...when someone special does come alone, he is not going to be 100% perfect or even close to this list. Life is pretty unpredictable. You'll just have to get used to it and live with it in a peaceful, respecting, and loving way when it does come down to it. Nobody is perfect... so why limit myself to this list? It's probably not going to turn out the way that I want it to at the end... And if you really want to know the type of guy that I like... you really have to erase that list...because it changes over a period of time...

just some random comments as an addition to some random conversations...
