~Mona Lisa~

Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa, men have named you
You're so like the lady with the mystic smile
Is it only 'cause you're lonely they have blamed you?
For that Mona Lisa strangeness in your smile?

Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there and they die there
Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?

Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there and they die there
Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?

Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa

I watched mona Lisa Smile last night, and this song comes to my ears. It is such a beautiful and melancholy song. I like the lyrics.

Have you ever wondered why her smile is so strange? Did you ever wonder if she was forced to sit there and be painted by the painter? Why does she smile like that? It is such an unnatural smile. Look at her eyes? They seems to be telling you something secret, something deep inside her soul? Was she single? Was she married? Was she happy? Was she sad? Was she lonely? Perhaps her expression is the result of a mixture of emotions, emotions that are not acceptable at the time. She had to hide it deep inside her, but in vain, because the painter has captured her beauty and revealed her sadness and loneliness. I don?t know. It is really a mystery like what the song describes?like the movie, too. Don't get me wrong, the movie is not a mysterious one, but more or less like one that evokes you to think what it is that you want to achieve in life and how you interpret it. Maybe she was happy, but she was not expressing it in the modern sort of way by those big large smiles. Maybe she is just a traditional woman who keeps her happiness inside?and reveals only a slight bit of it. Who knows...

The movie made me feel really fortunate to be living in a time and space now. I am really grateful that my parents have raised and taught me the important lessons in life. They are really great parents who are not afraid of showing me the world outside... They, especially my dad, let us experience many things in a positive way rather than negative teachings. The family trips to various places are always dad's favorite way of teaching us how to accept other culture, tradition, and people. The famous Chinese saying, "Reading ten thousands of books can't be compared with having a journey of ten thousand miles," tells you that it is always better to see and experience things by physically being there and observing them rather than just reading about them... You get a lot more out of the experience by being there. Ever since I was little, they've been telling me that I can do whatever I want to pursue in my life and that they will always support me. It is comforting to know that they care, that they understand, and that they will always be on my side...

There is this girl in the movie who literally got kicked out by her mother when she went back home longing for a tiny bit of compassion and support from her mother. Her mother coldly told her to go back home and wait for the husband to come back which was the reason why the girl went home in the first place--marriage crisis. For a young woman of early 20 or maybe not even, she was inexperienced and needed a bit advice from the mother. No, she didn't even get a welcome. Her mother told her to leave and never to let others know about the problems even if she has to pretend that nothing is wrong by putting up a smiling face at everyone she encounters. What kind of heartless mother she is... That's my first thought... My second thought...I wonder if the mother had the same experience before. My third thought...Was her reaction to her daughter's situation thought to be normal at that time? Was her reaction deemed "proper" at the time?

At the same time, you also see how other girls deal with their lives and goals...

hm...I liked the movie....

Listen to the stillness of life.
