this past week was pretty busy.
i didn't end up going to CCF last night, because something happened in the afternoon that made me really shaky. after a busy day with volunteering, chores, interview, and orientation, I finally got a chance to pick up Mitalee. We were going to oriental mart to have a cultural experience.
i made a left turn from hagadorn onto grand river, driving toward oriental mart. i was driving within speed limit (probably no more than 30 mph, since there were a lot of cars) on grand river. then, all i saw was this black car coming out from a little tiny street on the right and driving without any intention of stopping into my car (or charlie's car)! i was on the innter lane, so i tried to dodge it (knowing that i was bound to hit, but hoping that i would escape the impact and avoid getting mitalee hurt). BOOOM! i saw parts of the car flying off the road. we kind of pulled into the middle part of the road, so we don't block traffic (i know, i should have left the car in the position in which it was hit). this black woman came out of her car, looked at it, and came over to tell me that she was sorry she didn't see me. not really knowing what to do, mitalee and i sat in the car and waited for the police to come. charlie came, the police came (after 40-50 minutes)... sigh... i felt SO guilty (i still do) that this had happened.... there were two other black women, so called "witnesses" who were helping the black lady while the police talked to her. then, we followed the police's direction and pulled into shell... he talked to them forever, and they left... then he came over to us, saying that the witnesses and the black lady said i pulled out from shell and tried to make a left turn on grandriver. He asked a second time what my story was, so i told him the way i am telling you now (again to him)...and asked mitalee, "so you were not in the car right?" Mitalee was like, "yeah, i was in the car." and the police was all surprised that mitalee said she wasn't in the car in the first time, even though the police asked mitalee if charlie was in the car the first time (this sentence probably doesn't make any sense to you...but i am too...mad...) he told us that he couldn't determine who was at fault! (WHAT THE HECK!) and i found out the NO FAULT thing in MI (which sucks!) I cannot believe the guy let that lady go without fining her! He could have simply check the tape, credit card history, or ask the cashier at the gas station if i was actually a customer right before the accident happened! I dunno. This is totally not justified. I cannot believe the lady lied, even though she KNEW she was at fault. i dunno... i am crushed by the event.
argh...
it totally proved how WITNESSES are UNRELIABLE... the justice system really needs to be changed... i would rather have cameras all over the US like what they do in London.
so... i was all shaky and scared of being in a car after what happened, so i skipped ccf... (I know, it is a bad excuse) life is so unpredictable... i hope that this will never happen again.
i am going to eat dinner and continue studying nutrition now...
