"Dreams"

Hold fast to dreams/ For if dreams die/ Life is a broken-winged bird/ That cannot fly.// Hold fast to dreams/ For when dreams go/ Life is a barren field/ Frozen with snow. Langston Hughes

this afternoon, i attempted to rollerblade like i had planned for the summer. yes...pei's trying to rollerblade. you would know her balancing ability if you had seen her on the ice rink. the result is not too too bad. she only fell 4 times (3 on her butt, 1 on her knees) in the course of 10 minutes or so, because she didn't want to scare her mom who was walking by her. it was really scary when she was going down the little slope because she started to accelerate (potential energy into kinetic energy) without doing anything but just let the wheels roll. she didn't know how to stop. sigh. so she was waving her arms violently trying to find a balance but she couldn't, and she got scared that she just decided to let herself fall to stop from falling on her face at the end. the result: 2 bumps and bruises on her knees. bah. it was fun though. the neighbors looked at her from the porch and asked her, "are you alright there?" "yes! hahahahaha," she laughed it off. her mom got scared a little and just told her to head back to the house. bah. so she did. trying not to fall again, because the ground is not as smooth as the ice... she needs advice on how to use the brake...

on the way back home from the grocery shopping at night, she heard this absolutely powerful violin concerto played on the radio, so powerful, that she started to imagine herself the conductor, waving her musical "wand" at the violinist and the other musicians. after taking the grocery back inside the house, she jumped right back into the car to park the car at the designated spot on the other side. she turned up the volume and felt the whole car vibrating with the rhythm of the music. she parked the car and sat there for however long (it turned out that she sat in the darkness of the car for 30 minutes) listening to the amazing music and watching the dark clouds covering up the crescent moon. at 9:28pm, she saw a small shadow coming towards the car and she recognized it was her mom. she opened the door and greeted her mother happily with the music in the background, but...

"GEEZ, you freaked me OUT!!! I didn't know where you went! I thought you were missing.... where would I go find you in the dead of the night?"

"I was just listening to the music" she said, now very guilty of not telling her mother that she was just in the car listening to music and enjoy the silent peaceful night under the moonlight.

"You could have just TOLD ME that you were goign to be in the car after you park it and then come back to the car. You worried me to death!"

"......."

"Alright, you can stay in the car until the concerto is over..."

the drama of the night. she went back to the house at 9:50ish pm when the concerto came to the conclusion. the music didn't stop...it never stops... the rain poured down to replace the remain of the violin concerto. powerful rain.

the night, with the rain, was depressing... especially after calling grandpa and grandma. they sounded so sad... grandpa said that he hope we are and will always be happy because they are really unhappy. ("happy" and "unhappy" in english to me...sigh...) that just sounded so desperate and so helpless. grandma is still in bed because it is painful for her to even sit up straight. her voice was so weak and so fragile. god, i wish i can DO something. i promised that i would call them more often so that they don't feel that lonely, even though i am well aware of the fact that they might feel even worse after my calls, because they would realize that i am physically not there by them. sigh....

bye for now
