Oh yeah...

I watched Lost in Translation with Yee yesterday afternoon... I am not sure what to make of the movie. It was somewhat slow, yet... It was not an ugly movie that shows the dark side of life (not like Adaptation)... It depicts life well... That's all I can tell you... Life of married people, of people who have careers, of people who have lost their sense of purpose in life, etc. This movie is different...

Imagining myself going to a Japanese shrine in Kyoto and tying one of those wish slip onto a tree... The girl in the movie did that...in hope for something different...maybe. you'll never know what she wished for.

at the end, i think people are just searching for some sort of companionship... two people come together in the right time, the right circumstances, the right place... it just happens that they are both looking for something to fill the hole where emptiness has taken over. the two people become friends. it is a transient friendship, but it is all they needed for the time being because of other social obligations and because of their other halves of life. It didn't have to be a long one, because they weren't looking for one. They just didn't want to be alone in a strange time and space. So when the time came, they had to part. There is no feast that doesn't end.

hm... very true...
